Amazon Prime wireless could soon lower your bill to $10 – or even free

Amazon is reportedly gearing up to offer “Prime Wireless,” with cell phone plans that could essentially be free, according to media reports.

Citing sources within the company Bloomberg reported Amazon is in talks with wireless carriers about offering a Prime Wireless Plan for Prime members. The talks, which include carriers such as T-Mobile, Verizon and Dish, would offer plans ranging from free to $10 a month.

Amazon hasn’t confirmed the reports and the talks could still fall through.

“We are always exploring adding even more benefits for Prime members, but don’t have plans to add wireless at this time,” Amazon spokesperson Bradley Mattinger told Insider in a statement.

AT&T is reportedly not in the mix with a spokesperson telling Insider, the company is “not in discussions with Amazon to resell wireless services.”

A low-cost wireless plan would be an industry changer and a huge savings for most in the U.S. – even with the annual $139 cost for Amazon Prime. Currently, the average Americans pays $144 a month for their phone bill.

Currently, the cost of an annual Amazon Prime subscription is $139.
